“10 Teams” Have Expressed Interest In Evan Mathis

Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for free agent G Evan Mathis, mentioned on his weekly WQAM segment that “10 teams” have expressed “bona fide interest” in signing his client.

One of the things that I’ve assured the teams that are interested in Evan is that I’m simply not going to identify who they are and talk about them because they have a set roster at this point,” said Rosenhaus, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “But there are 10 teams that have expressed bona fide interest in signing Evan.”

While Rosenhaus did not reveal which teams are interested in Mathis’ services, he said that a deal could happen at “any time“.

I can tell you that this deal will happen at any time or it may still take between now and training camp to get it done,” said Rosenhaus. “There are several teams that are in the mix right now, and we don’t want to discourage anybody from pursuing it in the event that there will be collateral damage if they don’t get him.”

Though the Miami Dolphins have been suited to Mathis on numerous occasions, Jackson of the Miami Herald  writes that a formal offer has yet to be made. At this point in time, Miami is said to be “monitoring” the situation–as they do not want to be bidding against themselves for Mathis.

Mathis, 33, is by far the best available free agent offensive lineman and should have a decent market for his services.

Since he became available, the Bills, Dolphins, Seahawks, Chiefs, and Patriots have all come up as potential options.

Last year, Mathis appeared in nine games for the Eagles after he dealt with an MCL injury. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 guard out of 78 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding where Mathis could be playing in 2015 as the news is available
