10 Teams Interested In Signing CFL WR Duron Carter, Colts “Front Runners”

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that CFL WR Duron Carter, son of Hall of Fame WR Cris Carter, can begin to negotiate with NFL team’s starting next month.

According to La Canfora, as many as 10 teams NFL teams are currently tracking Carter, but “several” sources have told him that the Colts are expected to be the favorites to sign him to a contract.  La Canfora adds that the Colts interest in Carter is believed to be “significant.”

NFL teams can begin negotiating with the CFL standout on December 1, but he can’t formally sign with a new team until February.

La Canfora mentions that a weak class of free agent receivers could lead teams to make a strong push to sign Carter. As of now, roughly a third of the league is said to have interest and sources tell La Canfora that the Seahawks and 49ers are among these teams.

Carter, 23, had significant off-field issues years ago, which is why he eventually ended up playing for the Montreal Alouettes. This season, Carter caught 75 passes for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns.
