10 Teams Reportedly Interested In Evan Mathis, Dolphins Team To Watch?

According to Robert Klemko of MMQB.com, there are 10 NFL teams interested in free agent G Evan Mathis.

Klemko mentions that an issue for Mathis is the fact that NFL teams have their depth charts established for the most part and have less cap space to work with than they did at the start of free agency.

Even so, Klemko still expects Mathis to secure the kind of raise he was looking for from the Eagles before the cut him loose a few weeks ago.

Klemko writes that “[his] money is on the Dolphins eventually making the deal.

Mathis’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, mentioned during an interview this past weekend that “10 teams” have expressed “bona fide interest” in signing his client.

One of the things that I’ve assured the teams that are interested in Evan is that I’m simply not going to identify who they are and talk about them because they have a set roster at this point,” said Rosenhaus, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “But there are 10 teams that have expressed bona fide interest in signing Evan.”

Mathis, 33, is by far the best available free agent offensive lineman and should have a decent market for his services.

Since he became available, the Bills, Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Seahawks, Chiefs, Patriots and Vikings have all come up as potential options.

Last year, Mathis appeared in nine games for the Eagles after he dealt with an MCL injury. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 guard out of 78 qualifying players.

We have Mathis listed as the No. 1 player in our Top 25 Best Available Free Agents list.
