Two NFC Teams Interested In CFL LB Willie Jefferson

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that Edmonton Eskimos LB Willie Jefferson has interest from two NFC teams.

  • According to Wilson, Jefferson is generating a “lot of interest.
  • Wilson points out that the earliest a CFL player can sign with an NFL team is on February 2, but workouts can begin on January 1.

Jefferson, 24, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in 2013. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was waived a few months into his rookie season.

The Bills later signed him to a future/reserve contract in January of last year, but he lasted just a few months in Buffalo before he was cut a week or so before the start of free agency.

In two seasons with the Eskimos, Jefferson recorded 43 tackles, 10 sacks, and a fumble recovery.

We’ll have more regarding which teams are interested in Jefferson as the news is available.
