Browns HC Mike Pettine Has Yet To Meet With Jimmy Haslem Regarding Future With Team

Browns HC Mike Pettine told reporters following Sunday’s loss to the Bengals that he and team owner Jimmy Haslam haven’t spoken about his future with the franchise.

“We haven’t had those discussions,” Pettine said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “Jimmy and I had good conversations. We talk every week. Frankly, there’s a lot of football left to be played. We’re evaluated every day, whether we’re evaluating ourselves or whether it is coming from him.

“We’re just going to fall back on what we know how to do. We’re going to come in every day, prepare relentlessly like we do, we’re going to coach our players hard and we will see what happens.”

Pettine recently mentioned that he expected to sit down with Haslem and broach the subject, but it looks like this conversation may not happen until the season is almost over.

The Browns but together another disappointing performance on Sunday and are currently in the drivers seat for the No. 1 overall pick next year.

On top of that, many have questioned Pettine’s decision to bench QB Johnny Manziel in favor of Austin Davis, even though Manziel has had numerous off-the-field issues since entering the NFL.

As things stand right now, it would be surprising if the Browns weren’t in the market for a new head coach next month.

We’ll have more regarding Pettine’s future with the Browns as the news is available.
