NFL Notes: DeMarco Murray, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Eagles, & Ravens

DeMarco Murray

  • ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Eagles RB DeMarco Murray addressed frustrations with his role in Chip Kelly’s offense with owner Jeffrey Lurie.
  • According to Werder, Murray didn’t “want to cause scene.
  • Werder adds that Murray is a competitive, high-character player who must feel as though his abilities are not being fully utilized and promises that were made are not being fulfilled.

Buccaneers

  • Greg Auman believes there is “mutual interest” between the Buccaneers and RB Doug Martin regarding a contract extension.
  • However, Auman admits that Martin returning to Tampa Bay is likely to come down to his asking, while adding that it’s “hard to break the bank for RB these days.”

Chiefs

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles said he intends to be back from his season-ending knee injury in time for the start of the 2016 season.

“That’s the goal,” Charles said, via Dave Skretta of The Associated Press. “I had 11 [games] left in the season when I [tore my ACL], so it’s a lot of time to come back from it. The way I’m moving, I’ll be back before the season starts. I want to be back. I want to play. I want to be out there again.”

Eagles

  • Les Bowen reports that Eagles RB Ryan Mathews cleared one hurdle of the league’s concussion protocol on Monday and could return to practice Tuesday.

Ravens

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Ravens hosted TE Harold Spears for a visit on Monday.
