Patriots Waive CB Rashaan Melvin, Cut TE Joseph Fauria From PS

The New England Patriots waived CB Rashaan Melvin on Tuesday and released TE Joseph Fauria from their practice squad, according to Mike Reiss.

Fauria, 25, spent over two years with the Lions before he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts at the start of the season. The Cardinals later signed him to a contract before adding him practice squad. He was eventually being release close to a month ago.

The Patriots added Fauria to their practice squad a few weeks ago.

In 2014, Fauria appeared in seven games and caught six passes for 74 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Lions.

Melvin, 26, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois back in 2013. He later caught on with the Dolphins for a brief period of time before being signed off of Miami’s practice squad by the Ravens.

The Patriots claimed Melvin off of waivers from the Ravens back in October.

This season, has appeared in nine games and recorded seven tackles for the Patriots.
