Bears Announce First-Round WR Kevin White Will Remain On PUP List, Ending His Season

The Chicago Bears announced Tuesday that first-round WR Kevin White (leg) won’t be activated from the PUP list for the remainder of the 2015 season.

Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports that Bears won’t active first-round WR Kevin White (leg) from the reserve/PUP list, ending his rookie season.

According to Wiederer, White’s recovery from a stress fracture in his left leg “has progressed as the team had hoped, if not better.”

White has reportedly shown shown signs of burst running and has gained more confidence in his acceleration and agility, but it sounds like the Bears will hold him out for the remainder of the year and ensure he’s 100 percent for 2016.

Chicago has until Tuesday of next week to activate White from the physically unable to perform list.

White, 22, was the No. 7 overall selection in this year’s NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $16.563 million contract that included a $10.305 million signing bonus.

White will make base salaries of $435,000 (2015), $525,000 (2016), $615,000 (2017), and $2,693,598 (2018).

During his two years at West Virginia, White caught 144 passes for 1,954 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.
