With Final Year Of Tyrod Taylor’s Contract Likely To Void, He’s Hoping To Sign Long-Term Deal With Bills

Albert Breer of NFL Media mentions that it’s now a certainty that Bills QB Tyrod Taylor‘s three-year contract will void to a two-year deal now that he’s played 645 snaps (80.9 percent).

All Taylor has to play is 50 percent of the Bills’ snaps this year to void the final season of his contract. This, of course, means that Taylor will be in a contract year next season, which could prompt the Bills to begin talks of an extension during the offseason.

For what it’s worth, Taylor tells Breer that he would like to remain with the Bills long-term.

“For sure. For sure. It’s a great group of guys, great organization to be around, great people in the organization. And great players,” Taylor said. “I love coming to work. Just with the attitude everyone comes to work with, that makes it a fun environment. So, of course, I’d want to be here long-term.”

Taylor, 26, three-year, $3.35 million contract that included just $1.2 million guaranteed with the Bills back in March. He’ll make a base salary of $750,000 this season and another $1 million in 2016.

This season, Taylor has appeared in seven games and thrown for 2,171 yards while completing 64.9 percent of his passes to go along with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s also ran for 318 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Taylor and a potential contract extension as the news is available.
