Panthers Place CB Bene Benwikere On Season-Ending I.R.

The Carolina Panthers have placed CB Bene Benwikere on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a lower leg fracture during their Week 14 win over the Falcons, per Joe Person.

Carolina signed CB Robert McClain to a contract, who will take Benwikere’s place on the 53-man roster.

Benwikere, 24, is in the second year of his four-year, $2.419 million rookie contract that included a $199,000 signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $510,000 this season and another $600,000 in 2016.

Benwikere’s 2015 season comes to an end with him appearing in 13 games and recording 59 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, a recovery and nine pass defenses for the Panthers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 50 cornerback out of 116 qualifying players.
