Potential Landing Spots For RGIII Could Include Eagles, Texans, Saints & Cowboys?

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Eagles, Texans, Saints and Cowboys could all be teams to keep an eye on as potential landing spots for QB Robert Griffin III next year.

According to Rapoport, whoever Sean Payton‘s coaching for in 2016 could be an option for RGIII.

Even though Washington is widely expected to part ways with RGIII, Rapoport mentions that they’ll likely have positive things to say about how he handled the situation this season.

The Eagles have been a popular speculative option for RGIII, seeing as they could be looking for a quarterback who’s a better fit for Chip Kelly’s offense.

Texans HC Bill O’Brien is known for his work with young quarterbacks, so they could offer RGIII a clean start and the ability develop in the coming years.

The Cowboys have had an awful time winning games without Tony Romo, so finding a backup they believe in could be a priority for them next year.

Griffin, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $21,119,098 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $3,269,877 for the 2015 season. Washington elected to pick up his fifth-year option worth $16.2 million several months ago.

However, once the decision was made to go with Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback, the Redskins elected to make RGIII their No. 3 quarterback and prevent any scenario where he could be injured and trigger guarantees in 2016.

In 2014, Griffin appeared in nine games and threw for 1,694 yards while completing 68.7 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and six interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding RGIII’s options as the news is available.

  1. I rather see the Cowboys develop Romo’s heir apparent from the draft, instead of grooming another teams failed project.
