NFL Notes: Cardinals, Chargers, Panthers, Texans, & Vikings

Cardinals

• Josina Anderson reports that the Cardinals told rookie RB David Johnson “we expect more from you” than Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington, given that he’s bigger and can still do the things they do.
• The Cardinals view Johnson as a similar running back to Matt Forte of the Bears based on the fact that he can run routes in the passing game, according to Anderson.

Chargers

• Rand Getlin reports that Chargers first-round RB Melvin Gordon‘s knee is sore, but he isn’t experiencing any swelling.
• Gordon will still undergo an MRI on Monday.

Panthers

• Panthers HC Ron Rivera told reporters that he will play their starters Week 16 against the Falcons as they attempt to secure home-field advantage in the playoffs. (Joe Person)

• Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that Texans QB Brian Hoyer remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol, but his symptoms are subsiding, and he’s feeling good.

Vikings

• Sources tell Josina Anderson of Vikings RB Adrian Peterson‘s injury: “He’ll be ready to go on Sunday!”
