Cowboys Officially Place Tony Romo & Gavin Escobar On I.R. & Promote Two

The Dallas Cowboys officially placed QB Tony Romo and TE Gavin Escobar on season-ending injured reserve.

  • The Cowboys also promoted QB Jameill Showers and DT Casey Walker to their active roster.

Romo, 35, is in the third year of his seven-year, $119.5 million contract that included $55 million guaranteed.

He unfortunately sustained multiple fractures to his collarbone this season, and had been expected to be placed on injured reserve for a few weeks now.

In 2015, Romo threw for 884 yards while completing 68.6 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdowns and seven interceptions over the course of four games for the Cowboys.

Gavin Escobar tore his Achilles and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season, per Charean Williams.

The Cowboys will likely place Escobar on season-ending injured reserve in the coming days.

Escobar, 24, is in the third year of his four-year, $4.21 million rookie contract that included a $1.442 million signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $787,772 this season and another $979,158 in 2016.

Escobar tore his Achilles a few weeks ago, so he’ll face a serious rehabilitation during the offseason.

This season, Escobar appeared in 14 games and caught eight passes for 64 yards and one touchdown for the Cowboys.
