Chip Kelly: “We’ll Do Everything We Can To Get Sam Bradford Back”

Eagles HC Chip Kelly mentioned Monday morning during a radio interview that they would like to sign QB Sam Bradford to an extension this offseason.

We certainly want Bradford back and we’ll do everything we can to get him back,” Kelly said, per Eagles Insider.

Kelly added that there have been no contract talks during the season, so we’ll have to see if talks between the two parties pick up once the season is officially over.

On Saturday, Bradford also said he’s interested in returning to Philadelphia.

I want to be back here,” Bradford said, via Pro Football Talk. “Obviously, we are not at the stage where we have been talking about that, but if it does present itself and I do have the opportunity, then this is where I want to be.”

Bradford said there have been no recent contract talks between the two parties, but stressed that he’s enjoyed his time in Philadelphia.

I’ve enjoyed my time here,” Bradford said. “I’ve enjoyed being in Philadelphia. I think throughout my career, I’ve learned that learning new offenses every year, it’s just hard to continue to improve. You are always learning. You are learning new verbiage, learning new plays, learning new systems. And I would really like to stay in the same one and have the opportunity to play a second year.”

Bradford, 28, is in the final year of his six-year, $78 million contract that included $50 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $12.985 million for the 2015 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.

This season, Bradford has thrown for 3,405 yards while completing 64 percent of his passes to go along with 17 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 quarterback out of 36 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Bradford’s future with the Eagles as the news is available.
