Browns Reportedly Could Keep HC Mike Pettine & Fire GM Ray Farmer

Jason Cole of B/R has spoken to sources within the Browns’ organization who have said they expect HC Mike Pettine to survive to coach another year, despite the fact that the Browns have managed to win just three games in 2015.

Cole’s sources indicated that GM Ray Farmer is actually the bigger problem in Cleveland. According to Cole, the concerns regarding Farmer relate to his personnel decisions.

Should the Browns part ways with Farmer, Cole mentions that the top-three candidates for the Browns GM job are likely to be Chiefs executive Chris Ballard, Vikings executive George Paton, and Bengals executive Duke Tobin.

Last night, Jason La Canfora mentioned that he’s become “much more inclined to believe” Packers director of player personnel Eliot Wolf may actually be willing to leave Green Bay for the right job. According to La Canfora, there has been “strong buzz” about him being an option for the Browns among other places, so that’s at least something to keep in mind.

Many seem to expect the Browns to clean house again and bring in a new front office and head coach. However, it appears there’s a chance Pettine could survive to see another season.

Since taking over as the Browns’ head coach in 2014, Pettine has led the team to a record of 10-21 (32.3 percent).
