Browns HC Mike Pettine Says Latest Johnny Manziel Video Is “Certainly A Concern”

Browns HC Mike Pettine admitted that the recent video of QB Johnny Manziel‘s partying on Christmas Eve this past week “is certainly a problem.”

Anytime there’s something with our players that casts them potentially in a bad light, whether it’s Johnny or any of our other guys, it’s certainly a concern,” said Pettine, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I’m sure I’ll see it, I’ll have a discussion with him about it.”

“I don’t have all the information on it, and I’m just not going to comment on it at this time because I don’t have all the facts with it,” Pettine said.

In the short video (via BustedCoverage), Manziel is seen rapping, dancing and drinking what appears to be a Four Loko.

However, Pettine didn’t rule out the possibility of benching Manziel for their Week 17 matchup against the Steelers.

After a video surfaced of Manziel partying during the team’s bye week, Pettine promised the “repercussions would be harsh” if Manziel messed up again.

Should the Browns bench Manziel, they would likely turn to Austin Davis for their season finale.

Manziel, 23, is in the second year of his four-year, $8,247,250 rookie contract that included $6,702,625 guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $794,936 this season and another $1,169,872 in 2016.

This season, Manziel has appeared in nine games and thrown for 1,500 yards while completing 57.8 percent of his passes to go along with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Manziel has also ran for 230 yards.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 quarterback out of 36 qualifying players.
