Colts Place TE Dwayne Allen On IR & Promote TE Erik Swoope

The Indianapolis Colts announced Wednesday that they’ve placed TE Dwayne Allen on season-ending injured reserve and promoted TE Erik Swoope to their active roster.

Allen, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $3.08 million rookie contract that included a $703,304 signing bonus. Hell make a base salary of $800,000 this season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next March.

It’s possible that the Colts allow Allen to walk in free agency, given that they’ll also need to address fellow tight end Coby Fleener.

In 2015, Allen appeared in 13 games for the Colts and recorded 16 receptions for 109 yards receiving and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 tight end out of 74 qualifying players.
