NFL Notes: 49ers, Browns, Falcons, & Steelers

49ers

49ers veteran K Phil Dawson said that he has yet to speak with the team regarding an extension, but hopes to do so in the coming months.

“When the proper time and place comes, I’ll definitely communicate how I feel about this place and how grateful I am to have been here for three seasons,” Dawson said, via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea. “But the time is not now for those conversations.”

Browns

  • The Browns have officially ruled out QB Johnny Manziel (concussion) for Week 17’s game.
  • Austin Davis will get the start for the Browns in their season finale against the Steelers.

Falcons

Falcons veteran WR Roddy White said he plans to be “a Falcon forever.”

I’m under contract, so as long as I’m under contract, then I’m going to be an Atlanta Falcon,” White said, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

White mentioned that the Falcons have told him that they too expect him finish out his career in Atlanta.

“I plan on being a Falcon forever,” White added. “That’s what they told me. That’s where my heart is. That’s where my mind’s at.”

Steelers

  • NFL Draft Diamonds is reporting that the Steelers are working out QB Phillip Sims on Thursday.
