NFL Notes: Cardale Jones, Andy Dalton, Bears, & Steelers

Cardale Jones

  • Jason Cole of B/R is reporting that the situation involving Ohio State QB Cardale Jones is “fluid.”
  • According to Cole, Jones could turn pro or graduate and then transfer to play one more year in college and improve his stock.

Andy Dalton

Bengals QB Andy Dalton said that he plans on meeting with a doctor Monday and is hoping to have his cast removed from his injured hand. (Geoff Hobson)

“I have no idea what the doctor will say,” Dalton said, per Hobson. “No timetable. When he says I’m ready, I’m ready.

Bears

Bears long-time RB Matt Forte said that he can only smile upon looking back at his career in Chicago.

“I’ve been blessed to play here as long as I have,” Forte said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “I’ve enjoyed my time here. I look back on when I first came in and played against legendary people like Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs [and] Charles Tillman — I’ve gotten to play against a lot of those tough defenses that we’ve had and they helped shape my career as a running back by playing against them and learning that way. I can only look back and smile the whole time.

It’s considered likely that the Bears will allow Forte to depart as a free agent in March.

Steelers

  • Aaron Wilson reports that the Steelers worked out Ty Long, Levi Norwood and Phillip Sims on Thursday.
