49ers Activate RB Mike Davis, Place LB Michael Wilhoite On IR

The San Francisco 49ers announced Saturday that they’ve placed LB Michael Wilhoite on season-ending injured reserve and activated RB Mike Davis from the short-term I.R. list.

Wilhoite, 29, played out the 2015 season under his exclusive rights contract that paid him a salary of $660,000. He’ll be a restricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2015, Wilhoite appeared in 12 games and recorded 85 tackles, an interception and a pass defense for the 49ers.

Davis, 23, was taken in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft. He’s in the first year of his four-year, $2.28 million rookie contract that will pay him $435,000 this season and another $525,000 in 2016.

This year, Davis has appeared in five games and ran for 25 yards on five carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with five receptions for 23 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
