ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Dolphins director of college scouting Chris Grier is the leading candidate to replace Dennis Hickey as Miami’s next GM.

  • Meanwhile, Albert Breer mentions that the Dolphins are open to allowing a new head coach to bring a personnel man with them.

It’s clear that vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum is calling the shots now in Miami.

Jeff Darlington of NFL Media reports that there’s a battle for power within the Dolphins’ organization that has to divisions within the franchise, which has resulted in different factions developing.

It’s worth mentioning that Grier is said to be close to Tannenbaum, which explains why some of the top reporters have connected him to the job.

According to Darlington, Tannenbaum is willing to hire a GM to oversee the scouting department, but he’s also willing to give up authority over roster decisions for the right candidate.
