NFL Notes: Johnny Manziel, Sean Payton, Contract Incentives

Johnny Manziel

Browns QB Johnny Manziel was spotted gambling and dining in Las Vegas on Saturday night, according to USA Today.

Manziel reportedly sat down at a blackjack table and a casino employee examined his photo ID exclaimed: “We’ve got Johnny Manziel with us tonight.

Manziel has been ruled out of today’s season finale after he showed signs of a concussion earlier in the week.

Manziel later posted a photo on Instagram showing him home with his dog and eventually added Avon, Ohio as the photo’s location.

Sean Payton

Ian Rapoport reports that Saints HC Sean Payton has made no secret of his openness to consider other head-coaching options.

Sources informed of his thinking have told Rapoport that Payton hasn’t ruled out leaving New Orleans, with the hope that it’s a clean and respectful break from the organization.

However, the Saints have privately they would like to receive compensation in return for Payton.

As for potential landing spots, Payton has privately discussed his interest in the Chargers opening, and in the past, has let it be known he’d be interested in the 49ers job.

Contract Incentives

Jason La Canfora runs down some players who have money on the line for today’s game due to incentives in their contracts.

  • Cowboys DE Greg Hardy can make $500,000 by producing two sacks. Four sacks would get him $1 million.
  • Cowboys RB Darren McFadden could earn $300,000 with three rushing yards and up to $500,000 by totaling 1,250 yards this season.
  • Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin needs two receptions to earn $400,000 in total. A big game could net him $500,000.
  • Panthers S Kurt Coleman has triggered $250,000 in incentives in his contract. He’ll also have an opportunity to achieve interception bonuses in each of the two years of his contract.
