Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams Carted Off With Right Ankle Injury

Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams was carted off during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Browns with a right ankle injury.

Williams wasn’t able to put any pressure on his leg as he was carried off the field, so it appears as though this could be a serious injury for the Steelers’ starting running back.

The Steelers smartly signed Williams to a low-money deal during the offseason, and he’s been a godsend this season. Pittsburgh unfortunately lost Le’Veon Bell for the season, but Williams has managed to be a very productive weapon in the Steelers’ offense.

Williams, 32, signed a two-year, $4 million contract that included a $1.13 million signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $870,000 this season to go along with $2 million in 2016.

Entering today’s game, Williams has ran for 899 on 195 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 38 receptions for 354 yards receiving and 11 total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 4 running back out of 67 qualifying players.
