NFL Notes: Bengals, Cowboys, Giants, Rams, & Raiders

Bengals

  • Adam Schefter reports that the Lions and Titans requested permission to interview Bengals personnel chief Duke Tobin for their GM openings, but he’s staying in Cincinnati long-term.

Cowboys

  • David Moore of the Sports Day isn’t sure that trade talks between the Cowboys and Browns involving QB Johnny Manziel would ever evolve beyond a preliminary inquiry.
  • Moore can’t see the asking price for Manziel being any more than a third-round pick, but he’s isn’t sure if it would even be worth to part with that kind of compensation for Manziel when he’s had some many issues since entering the league.
  • Instead, Moore could see teams possibly offering a fourth- or fifth-round pick for Manziel.
  • Moore considers Rolando McClain‘s chances of being back in Dallas “50-50 at best.
As for Greg Hardy, Moore seems to think his market could be more limited than some may expect based on what the Cowboys dealt with this year.
  • This could lead to him being a reasonably priced player in free agency, and may have to sign a second-tier contract.
  • In the end, Moore still doesn’t think Hardy will return to Dallas for the 2016 season.

Giants

  • Giants owner John Mara said of re-signing DE Jason Pierre-Paul during a radio interview: “We would like to have him back, obviously at the right price.” (Kimberly Jones)

Rams

  • According to Brian Feldt of the St. Louis Business Journal, Inglewood mayor James Butts said that the plan for the city and Rams owner Stan Kroenke was to go ahead with the stadium project, even if the NFL didn’t approve their bid.
  • Feldt mentions that the stadium could still host other sporting events such as World Cups, the Olympics, and possibly award shows.

Raiders

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Raiders are making no changes to their coaching staff this year.
