Colts Hire Ravens LBs Coach Ted Monachino As Defensive Coordinator

Update:

The Indianapolis Colts officially announced that they’ve hired Ravens linebackers coach Ted Monachino as their new defensive coordinator.

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Ted Monachino as our next defensive coordinator,” said Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “Ted brings a wealth of experience with 25 years of coaching all on the defensive side of the ball. He has overseen one of the league’s best linebacker units for the last six years and I had the privilege of coaching with him for two of those seasons. Ted is very familiar with our scheme. He is a great motivator and is extremely respected by the players he has coached.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh announced Thursday that linebackers coach Ted Monachino will be the next defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts.

Alex Marvez previously reported that Monachino was a “strong candidate” for the Colts’ defensive coordinator after they fired Greg Manusky on Tuesday.

Monachino has had previous work as a defensive line coach for the Jaguars and a number of college teams.

In 2015, the Colts were No. 26 in the league in total yards allowed, No. 24 in passing yards allowed, No. 25 in rushing yards allowed, and No. 8 in pointed allowed per game.
