Dolphins Officially Sign German Football League MVP Tyler Davis To Futures Contract

The Miami Dolphins announced that they’ve signed WR Tyler Davis of theĀ German Football League to a future/reserve contract on Thursday.

NFL Draft Diamonds first reported that Davis was signing with the Dolphins several days ago.

He becomes the 10th player to sign a futures deal with the Dolphins. The full list includes:

  1. WR Tyler Davis
  2. WR Damarr Aultman
  3. RB Jahwan Edwards
  4. WR Robert Herron
  5. LB Terrell Manning
  6. G Vinston Painter
  7. G Anthony Steen
  8. DB Dax Swanson
  9. DE Julius Warmsley
  10. DE Jordan Williams

Davis actually played bothĀ cornerback and receiver during his time in theĀ GFL. He’s also the firsts player to make the transition from the GFL to the NFL.

During his MVP season forĀ Kiel Baltic Hurricanes,Ā Davis totaledĀ 94 receptions forĀ 1,733 yards receiving and 24 touchdowns.

He wound up going undrafted out ofĀ Missouri Valley College.

This contract will give him a chance to compete for a roster spot duringĀ offseason workouts and in training camp.

  1. Where are the O/L in that league, that’s very important piece for the puzzle. Tannehill isn’t the answer to of our success, he need to be trade, ASAP

  2. Oh Great! Just what Phins need another wr to go with 10 they already have! CAN HE BLOCK DLINEMAN? No! Can throw n catch without OLINEMAN!

  3. Although this kid is small in stature, (5’9″ 170lb) he is fearless as a WR, reminds me of Steve Smith w/ more speed. As a DB, he was always in the hip pocket of whoever he was covering, (9 int). Not afraid to make a tackle, Ala Vontae Davis. And last but not least, he is a very good kick/punt returner. Hopefully he’ll fair well in the “Big Boy League”!!

    • I agree this could be a great punt returner & also someone to replace CB Grimes & not spending to much $ to get it done.
