Colts Don’t Sign WR Duron Carter To Futures Deal, Making Him A Free Agent

Kevin Bowen reports that the deadline for the Colts to sign players to future/reserve contracts has passed without them signing WR Duron Carter.

This means that Carter is no longer on the Colts’ roster and is instead a free agent.

Carter, 24, totaled 124 career receptions for 1,939 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Montreal Alouettes over two years before he signed on with the Colts in February of last year.

There was a ton of buzz about Carter last year, but he was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. The Colts later added him to their practice squad, but never called him up the entire season.

In 2014, he caught 75 passes for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with 40 yards rushing and was named a CFL All-Star.

We’ll have more regarding where Carter could end up as the news is available.

  1. I said coming out of the CFL he should have signed with the Panthers and have WR coach Ricky Proehl coach him up. No his hall of fame dad had him sign up with the Colts and Andrew Luck. See he could have developed this year on the PS like Stephen Hill did. Hill tore his ACL in training camp and looked to be a starting WR opposite Kelvin Benjamin.

Folks the Panthers coaching staff is the best in the league. You want to develop as a player, hope GM Dave Gettleman comes knocking.
