Saints Hiring Dan Campbell, Joe Lombardi & Aaron Glenn

Update:

Mike Triplett of ESPN reports that the SaintsĀ are hiring Dan Campbell, Joe Lombardi and Aaron Glenn to their coaching staff.

  • Triplett adds that current Saints TE coach Dan Roushar is expected to remain on their staff.
  • Lombardi will return to his former role at QBs coach, and Glenn will be a secondary coach.

Things didn’t go so well for Lombardi as the Lions’ offensive coordinator. He lasted just over a year in Detroit before he was fired mid-season and replaced by Jim Bob Cooter.

Glenn was reportedly one of the coaches the Browns wanted to retain, but it appears as though the Saints were able to convince him to move on.

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports thatĀ formerĀ Dolphins interim HC Dan CampbellĀ interviewed with the Saints on Tuesday and could be hired in the near future as the team’s assistant head coach/TEs coach.

  • Charean WilliamsĀ indicatedĀ last night that CampbellĀ hadĀ secured an opportunity with the Saints.
  • According to Williams, the Cowboys were interested hiring Campbell, but the Saints’ offer was apparently enough to convince him to head to New Orleans.

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the Vikings and Saints are among the teams interested in hiring former Dolphins interim HC Dan Campbell.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reported earlier in the day thatĀ Campbell has been grantedĀ his releaseĀ and is now free to seek other job opportunities.

According to Wilson, NFL teams have already been making inquiries about Campbell, including theĀ Vikings, Cowboys and the Chargers.

It appears as though a decent market has already developed for his services, but it will be interesting to see what type of position he’s being considered for.

After taking over for Joe Philbin mid-season, Campbell led the Dolphins to a record of 5-7 (41.7 percent).

We’ll have more regarding where Campbell will end up as the news is available.
