Bills View Re-Signing OT Cordy Glenn & G Richie Incognito As “Imperative”

Bills GM Doug Whaley mentioned during an appearance on The John Murphy Show that re-signing OT Cordy Glenn and G Richie Incognito is “imperative.”

It’s imperative,” Whaley said, via WGR 550.  “When you look at that position (offensive line) as a whole, you like to have those guys with some continuity and playing together and basically playing like one.”

Whaley also stressed the importance of keeping the team’s offensive line unit intact.

The longer they’re together the better they’re going to be,” Whaley said.  “And for us to have them in year one, have us leading the league in rushing, that’s a pretty high mark and a good standard and we want to keep that.  And those two guys, I think, is a key to us taking the next step forward for next year.”

Glenn, 26, has played out his four-year, $4,865,180 rookie contract and is in line to be one of the most sought after free agents in this year’s free agent market.

With the cap rising again this year, and limited offensive tackle depth, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him secure a massive contract.

In 2015, Glenn appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 9 offensive tackle out of 76 qualifying players.

Incognito, 32, wound up being a much better signing than many anticipated for the Bills when they signed him to a one-year, $1.45 million last year. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

Incognito has said that he would like to be back with the Bills next year, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see something get done.

In 2015, Incognito appeared in all 16 games for the Bills and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 2 guard out of 82 qualifying players.
