Giants To Promote Mike Sullivan To OC, Could Hire Joe Philbin As Asst. HC

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that the Giants are expected to promote QBs coach Mike Sullivan to offensive coordinator now that they’re close to finalizing an agreement with Ben McAdoo to be their next head coach.

Last night, there were reports that said that former Dolphins HC Joe Philbin could be considered for this role. However, Garafolo adds that Philbin would likely have a different title such as assistant head coach.

New York is also expected to retain Steve Spagnuolo as their defensive coordinator.

The expectation is that the Giants will have an official announcement that McAdoo will take over for Tom Coughlin at some point in the near future.

Sullivan, 48, first worked with the Jaguars before joining the Giants as their WRs coach in 2004. He was promoted to QBs in 2010 before he departed for the Buccaneers offensive coordinator job in 2012.

After being let go by Tampa Bay, the Giants brought him back as QBs coach a few years ago.
