Browns Interviewed Former Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey For Front Office Job

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns have interviewed former Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey for their VP/player personnel vacancy.

  • Cabot adds that Eagles’ director of pro personnel Rick Mueller also on their radar for the position.

The Browns previously interview former Lions GM Martin Mayhew for the position close to a week ago.

On Tuesday, Sashi Brown said he was hoping to hire someone for this position within the week. According to Brown, this person will be almost exclusively focused on talent acquisition, but won’t have final say over the 53-man roster.

Some have wondered if the lack of say in personnel matter could limit their pool of candidates, but Brown stressed that this isn’t the case.

Hickey, 44, was fired by the Dolphins a few weeks ago and was replaced by an internal candidate. Hickey is a respected front office executive, so this could be a decent hire for the Browns if they elect to go with him.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns’ position as the news is available.
