Eagles “Top Immediate Priority” Is To Sign Vinny Curry To An Extension

Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports that the Eagles’ “top immediate priority” is to sign DE Vinny Curry to a contract extension.

  • According to Ed Kracz of the Intelligencer, there could also be an announcement regarding an agreement between the Eagles and Curry at some point in the near future.
  • Kracz has been told by a source that there is a contract in place that Curry is mulling whether or not to sign.

Kempski mentions that the odds of Curry returning to Philadelphia in 2016 went up considerably after HC Chip Kelly was fired. Since then, the Eagles have brought in Jim Schwartz to run their defense, and his system figures to be a much better fit Curry’s skill set.

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reported last week that Philadelphia has already made a contract offer to Curry. Shorr-Parks anticipates there being plenty of suitors in free agency for Curry if he’s allowed to test the open market.

Curry, 27, was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. He has played out his four-year, $3,381,832 rookie contract and is now in line to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2015, Curry appeared in all 16 games and recorded 12 tackles and 3.5 sacks for the Eagles.

We’ll have more regarding a potential contract extensions for Curry as the news is available.
