Titans “Very Open” To Trading No. 1 Overall Pick

Albert Breer of NFL Media, citing team sources, reports that the Titans are “very open” to the idea of shopping the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft.

However, the Titans plan to limit how far they’re willing to move back in the first-round, as they still want to come away with an elite prospect.

Breer spoke to people at this year’s Senior Bowl who believe this year’s class is deeper than it is strong at the top of the draft.

The ideal scenario for the Titans, according to Breer, would be for a quarterback prospect such as Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff or Cason Wentz to become red hot during the draft process with a team further down the board looking to trade up for him and jumping the Browns at No. 2 overall.

Breer writes that the 49ers are really the only team drafting in the top 10 who he could see making the move up for a quarterback. Of course, the Titans could elect to trade out of the top 10 with teams like the Bears, Saints, Eagles and Rams, but that could be too far for them to move back and feel comfortable about the player they would be getting.

Matt Miller of B/R reportedly earlier in the day that the Titans are “absolutely” shopping the No. 1 pick in the draft, and mentioned that the two teams most likely to have interest are the Browns and Rams.

It’s worth mentioning that the Browns have publicly stated that they aren’t likely to trade up to No. 1 overall and would instead be more likely to move back.

During his introductory press conference on Monday, new Titans GM Jon Robinson told reporters that they are willing to listen to “any and all offers” for their No. 1 overall pick.

We will look at any and all offers that come this way,” Robinson said.

The Titans earned the No. 1 overall pick after posting a regular season record of 3-13.

I’m sure there will be plenty more talk about the Titans possibly trading their No. 1 overall pick in the coming months.
