NFL Notes: Johnny Manziel, Robert Griffin III, Jets, & Titans

Johnny Manziel

David Watkins of NBC5 reports that the Fort Worth PD were called in to check on a “dispute” between Browns QB Johnny Manziel and his girlfriend early Saturday morning.

According to Omar Villafranca of CBS, Manziel was not arrested, but an information report was completed regarding the altercation between Manziel and his girlfriend.

Robert Griffin III

Baylor HC Art Briles mentioned that the Cowboys would be a “dream” landing spot for current Redskins QB Robert Griffin III.

“You could have a dream. That would probably be making it come true,” Briles said, via DallasNews.com. “That would be a great place for him. It’s a great organization; being back in Texas and with the Cowboys and having a chance to get in there under Romo for three years. Not that they need to sell tickets, but it wouldn’t hurt ticket sales.”

Jets

Jets owner Woody Johnson believes Geno Smithhas all the skills” to be a franchise quarterback.

“It is a question of what his desire is,” Johnson said, via ESPN.com. “And from what the coaches told me and from what I have seen myself, I think he has matured a lot. And he is working on his game and he knows he’s a professional and he has the ability if he sticks with it.”

Titans

  • Alex Marvez reports that the Titans have hired former Montreal Alouettes DL coach Keith Willis as an assistant DL coach.
