Johnny Manziel Expected To Receive “Significant Penalties” From NFL

Jason Cole of B/R the expectation is that Browns QB Johnny Manziel will receive “significant penalties” from the NFL for his latest off-the-field issue at some point in time.

This comes after his agent, Erik Burkhardt, announced that he has parted ways with him.

Cole mentions that Manziel needs to seek more treatment for alcohol abuse, as there are reportedly strong indications from people around the quarterback that he’s drinking “significantly.”

Cole has spoken to people around the NFL who believe he will need to take a year off and get himself straight in an attempt to get his career back on track.

Beyond that, Paul Manziel, the father of Manziel, stated Friday he’s concerned that his son may not live to be 24 if he doesn’t get the help he needs.

Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News provided comments from the elder Manziel, who said his son refused admittance to rehabilitation facilities twice over the past week. He doesn’t think that paints a promising picture moving forward.

“I truly believe if they can’t get him help, he won’t live to see his 24th birthday,” Paul Manziel said, via Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News.
