Johnny Manziel Allegedly Hit His Ex-Girlfriend So Hard It Ruptured Her Eardrum

Kathy Kinser, the lawyer for Johnny Manziel‘s ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, told KXAS-Channel 5 on Monday that Browns quarterback hit Crowley so hard that it ruptured her left eardrum.

“They expect [the ear] to heal, but it’ll take a while,” Kinser said, via NBCDFW.com.

Crowley said he jumped out of a car Manziel was driving, which led to him hitting her in the head on her left ear.

According to Crowley, said she tried to hit back but Manziel threw her off and she hit her head on the car window and fell on the floorboard.

“Still fearful for my life, I stayed in the floorboard motionless until (Manziel) pulled me back onto the seat. He was telling me to ‘stop’ and wouldn’t let me have my phone.'”

Manziel told her that he was going to take her car and kill himself.

“I started crying even more and he told me, ‘Shut up or I’ll kill us both,'” she said.

Crowley said he responded by saying, “I would never kill you. You don’t deserve that. I would only kill myself.

“I thought maybe he was on drugs or having a psychotic break so to keep him calm I began telling him, ‘I love you. We can figure this out. We can talk,'” Crowley said.

Crowley has filed a protective order against Manziel following the incident, which the Browns quarterback signed, agreeing not to be around Crowley for two years and pay Crowley’s attorney’s fees of $12,500.

On Friday, the Dallas police announced that they will investigate the domestic violence allegations against Manziel, despite releasing a statement the day before that said the case was closed.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media recently reported that the Browns will cut Manziel when the new league year begins on March 9.

The Browns have $20 million in cap space for 2015, which will be carried over to 2016. However, Manziel’s guarantees need space to be absorbed in 2015 and they currently have no cap space, which explains why they plan to wait for the new league year.

On March 9th, Cleveland can cut Manziel and take a cap hit of $4,333,487, according to Joel Corry. Manziel’s 2017 salary guarantee will immediately hit their salary cap.

Cleveland Browns VP of Football Operations Sashi Brown released a statement Tuesday regarding the off-the-field incidents involving Manziel, saying that they plan to address his status with team once the league rules permit.

We’ve been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny’s continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Manziel, 23, is in the second year of his four-year, $8,247,250 rookie contract that included $6,702,625 guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $794,936 this season and another $1,169,872 in 2016.

This season, Manziel appeared in nine games and thrown for 1,500 yards while completing 57.8 percent of his passes to go along with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Manziel has also ran for 230 yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 quarterback out of 36 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Manziel as the news is available.
