Patriots Release RB Montee Ball From His Contract

According to Pro Football Talk, the Patriots have released RB Montee Ball from his contract following his recent arrest.

Ball’s practice squad contract with the Patriots recently expired, so there appears to be some confusion about whether or not he was a free agent.

Ball was arrested in Madison, Wisc. early Friday morning and charged with battery.

The woman told police she had a dispute with her boyfriend,” a police source told the State Journal. “She said he put his hands on her, picked her up and threw her.”

The women told police that she hit a table, resulting in the cut on her leg that required stitches. Police said they found Ball outside of the hotel and added that he “very cooperative.

Ball, 25, was taken in the second round of the 2013 draft by the Broncos. However, he lasted just a few years in Denver before he was released at the start of the 2015 season.

The Patriots later signed him to their practice squad at the end of the year.

In 2014, Ball was limited to appearing in just five games and rushing for 172 yards on 55 carries (3.1 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 62 yards receiving and one total touchdown for the Broncos.
