Some Seahawks Players Believe Marshawn Lynch Could Change His Mind About Retirement

Jason Cole of B/R reports that numerous Seahawks players have doubts that Marshawn Lynch will follow through on his decision to retire from the NFL.

These players reportedly believe Lynch could have a change of heart at some point this offseason, most likely after offseson workouts are over.

Cole spoke to a team source who said they’re likely to “tread lightly” with Lynch, should he change his mind about retirement and want to return to the team. Seattle may prefer to just move on from Lynch as their No. 1 running back and go with some of their younger options, according to Cole.

Lynch’s agent, Doug Hendrickson, confirmed to The Associated Press on Monday that his client is in fact retiring from the NFL.

This came after Lynch posted a cryptic photo on his Twitter account during the Super Bowl implying that he was hanging up his cleats.

Lynch, 29, has two years remaining on his three-year, $31 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed. He would make base salaries of $9 million in 2016 and another $7 million in 2017.

In 2015, Lynch ran for 417 yards on 111 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 13 receptions for 80 yards receiving and three total touchdowns over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 running back out of 68 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Lynch possibly returning to the Seahawks as the news is available.
