NFL Notes: Draft, Browns, Colts, & Packers

  • An NFL scout isn’t buying the comparison of Notre Dame WR Will Fuller to DeSean Jackson. “I hear the DeSean Jackson comparison and I can’t get there. DeSean was faster, tougher and more reliable than Fuller. I’m not saying Fuller can’t play but I don’t think he’s DeSean.”
  • An NFC North scout offered some high praise for Michigan State OT Jack Conklin, saying: “That is a dude, right there. He was busting up Ohio State in the fourth quarter of that game not because he was more talented than those guys but because he just wanted it more. He’s tougher than old beef jerky. He fits in our division.”

Browns

  • Browns LT Joe Thomas mentioned that he expects them to draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall: “I think we’re in really good shape now, probably going to draft a QB at No. 2 hopefully have future of franchise.” (Mary Kay Cabot)
  • Joe Thomas said nice to hear that Sashi Brown and Hue Jackson both want him to remain in Cleveland, but added: “I don’t think they thought about trading me last year until Denver called.” (Mary Kay Cabot)

  • An NFL source tells Silverstein that Thompson was “glued” to the offensive line drills.
