Buccaneers Work Out 4 Kickers Including Josh Scobee

Greg Auman reports that the Buccaneers recently worked out four kickers including: Josh Scobee, Nate Freese, Mike Meyer and Cameron Starke.

  • Auman adds that the Bucs did not sign anyone to a contract following the workouts.

Scobee is the most notable kicker in this group. He recently worked out for the Saints, but they too didn’t sign him to a contract after his tryout.

Scobee, 33, was traded to the Steelers in a deal that sent a 2016 sixth-round pick to the Jaguars. This came after Pittsburgh placed K Shaun Suisham on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

The Steelers ultimately elected to cut Scobee loose just over a month into the season and sign K Chris Boswell as his replacement.

In 2015, Scobee converted just 60 percent of his field goal attempts including 3 of 7 from 40 yards or more. He has also missed an extra point.
