Saints Restructure DE Cameron Jordan’s Contract, Free Up $4.8M In Cap Space

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Saints restructured DE Cameron Jordan‘s contract and in turn created $4.8 million in cap space.

According to Yates, New Orleans converted Jordan’s $6 million roster bonus into a signing bonus. His cap figure now sits at $8 million.

The Saints are once again in a tough financial position, so you can expect even more moves to free up cap space including a contract extension for QB Drew Brees.

Jordan, 26, is in the second year of his six-year, $61.969 million contract that included $33.469 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Jordan appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and recorded 46 tackles, 10 sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries, and five pass defenses.
