NFL Notes: Von Miller, Draft, & Saints

Von Miller

Broncos free agent OLB Von Miller mentioned that he expects to eventually have an agreement in place with Denver on a long-term contract.

“I put in all the work I can possibly do,” Miller said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com. “If I was with any other organization, if I was with any other team, maybe I’d be worried about everything, but I’ve got John Elway. He’s played, he’s had experience with this whole process. I feel comfortable. Me and John’s relationship is great: He was there when I was going through stuff and he never wavered. I feel like we won’t waver now either.

“It will be a great experience, and it will be peaceful — there’s no reason for it not to be.”

Draft

• According to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net, there continues to be support from the NFL for Clemson DE/OLB Kevin Dodd to be selected over his teammate Shaq Lawson. Pauline mentions that teams think Dodd offers upside and a higher ceiling than Lawson.
• In regards to a potential landing spot for Dodd, sources have told Pauline that the Cardinals could be an option for him in the first round. Arizona is also believed to be targeting a safety in the early rounds as well.
• Pauline reports that if the Bills pass on a quarterback in round one, a name to watch for them is Stanford QB Kevin Hogan. The Bills were reportedly impressed with his  athleticism and arm strength at the Senior Bowl.
• Pauline believes there’s a chance South Carolina TE Jerell Adams could be the fourth tight end drafted this year.
• Michigan TE A.J. Williams has garnered a lot of interest from both the Jets and Cowboys recently, according to Pauline.

Saints

Saints HC Sean Payton pointed to the team’s structure as one of the main reasons why he elected to return to New Orleans.

“The communication between that triangle of ownership, general manager and head coach,” Payton said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “And I see each year things that take place and I think ‘man, we don’t have to worry about them.’ Now we might on that Sunday. But we don’t have to worry about them winning the whole thing. And that’s something that changes. It’s not a permanent thing for any team, nor is it permanent for us. We don’t take it for granted in any way. We’ve got to find a way to do a better job in personnel. We’ve got to find a way to get north of this 7-9 season we just had. I don’t take that triangle for granted at all because, man, what would be more frustrating than coaching somewhere where you had no chance?”
