NFL Notes: Cardinals, Chiefs, & Seahawks

Cardinals

  • Cardinals GM Steve Keim tells James Palmer that they continue to have conversations with DB Tyrann Mathieu regarding a long-term extension.
  • Keim said of Mathieu’s rehab from his ACL injury: “I have no doubt in my mind he’s going to come back full strength.” (James Palmer)

Chiefs

Chiefs free agent ILB Derrick Johnson said during an interview with 1300 The Zone,  there’s “no doubt” he wants to return to Kansas City in 2016.

“Talking with the Chiefs and hopefully that progresses and we’ll see where it goes from there,” Johnson said, via Arrowhead Pride. “I want to be a Kansas City Chief, no doubt. I don’t want to go to another team.”

Seahawks

Seahawks free agent LT Russell Okung said he isn’t nervous at all about representing himself in free agency, and he believes he’s well prepared for how things will go.

“Not nervous about it at all,” Okung said during an interview with 710 ESPN Seattle. “I’m well-studied. I’ve prepared. And I think the value speaks for itself. I think there’s a necessity in my position league-wide, and we’ll just have to see where it goes. Really excited about the opportunity though.

Regarding this shoulder surgery, Okung explained that it was just something he had do.

It was something that I didn’t have to do, but decided to do just to mitigate any risks going forward,” he said.
