NFC Notes: 49ers, Falcons, & Seahawks

49ers

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area writes that the first thing new 49ers HC Chip Kelly will need to determine is whether he wants to make it work with QB Colin Kaepernick.

Despite meeting with Kaepernick after being hired, Maiocco mentions that Kelly never gave Kaepernick any indication of his plans.

Multiple sources have told Maiocco previously that Kaepernick would prefer to move on.

The 49ers would have some options to consider if they were to move on Kaepernick, as quarterbacks such as Sam Bradford and Robert Griffin III will be available in free agency.

On top of that, San Francisco could be in position to draft at quarterback at No. 7 overall to develop with Jared Goff, Carson Wentz and Paxton Lynch being the most likely options.

Falcons

Seahawks

Sheil Kapadia of ESPN takes a look at the whether former Rams DE Chris Long, LB James Laurinaitis and/or TE Jared Cook could be options for the Seahawks.

  • Of the three, Kapadia believes Long would be the most appealing, seeing as Seattle is always in the market for pass-rush help. However, Kapadia mentions that it would obviously have to be at the right price for Seattle.
  • Laurinaitis and Cook appear unlikely to be options for Seattle, given that they have Bobby Wagner and Jimmy Graham in place as their starters. Although, Graham will be coming off of a serious knee injury.
