NFL Notes: Laquon Treadwell, Chip Kelly, & Eagles

Laquon Treadwell

Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell says he won’t run the forty-yard dash at the Combine and will instead wait until his Pro Day.

“I’ve only had a week and a half here (in Miami) and want to wait ’til I’m at our facilities,” Treadwell said, via NFL.com.

Recent reports have said that many around the league expect Treadwell to run a less-than-spectacular forty. One report said that Treadwell could post as high as a 4.7 time, which isn’t all that great for someone considered to be the top receiver prospect in the draft.

However, Treadwell said his goal is to run “in the 4.4s or 4.5s.”

Chip Kelly

Former Eagles G Evan Mathis tells Mike Klis of 9News that last year’s Broncos team “would have eaten Chip [Kelly] alive” due to their personalities.

There were many things that Chip had done that showed me he wasn’t building a championship team,” Mathis wrote in his e-mail to 9NEWS. “Two of the main issues that concerned me were: 1. A never-evolving, vanilla offense that forced our own defense to play higher than normal play counts. 2. His impatience with certain personality types even when they were blue-chip talents. The Broncos team I was on would have eaten Chip alive. I don’t think he could have handled the plethora of large personalities.

Eagles

Eagles S Malcolm Jenkins, who just signed a new four-year extension today, says he wants S Walter Thurmond back in Philadelphia next year.

“Definitely he is a guy,” Jenkins said, , via NJ.com“I want to continue to play with.”

“His knowledge of the game and his production speaks for itself,” Jenkins said. “He is a player that can make a lot of plays and made a lot of plays for us. … His versatility freed me up a lot. Very versatile, similar to myself. He played corner his whole career and then his first year at safety was very, very productive.
