NFL Rumors: Von Miller, Packers, Panthers, Ravens, & Vikings

Von Miller

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that the Broncos are expected to meet with OLB Von Miller on Friday.
  • The expectation is that Miller will end up being the highest paid defensive player in the league.
  • Miller’s reps anticipate that a long-term won’t be reached during their meet and he’ll likely be franchised.

Packers

Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports that word around the Combine this year from agents and league personnel is that the Packers intend to pursue more free agents.

Demovsky adds that Green Bay will likely focus on players who have been released by their teams, as they won’t factor into the compensatory draft pick formula next year.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy even indicated that they could “shock” people with their activity in the free agent market.

“We’ll see how it shakes out,” McCarthy said on Thursday. “We might shock you this year.”

Panthers

  • Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that the Panthers met with CB Josh Norman‘s agent in Indy, but they didn’t make much progress on a new deal.
  • According to Garafolo, talks are expected to continue and Norman remains a candidate for the franchise tag.

Ravens

  • Jeff Zrebiec reports that there’s growing confidence that the Ravens will get a reworked contract done with QB Joe Flacco.
  • Zrebiec points out that while the Ravens love OLB Courtney Upshaw, both GM Ozzie Newsome and HC John Harbaugh indicated that you can’t keep everybody when asked about Upshaw this week.

Vikings

  • According to Darren Wolfson, the Vikings are “torn” about keeping LT Matt Kalil at his current $11 million cap figure.
