Panthers Discussing New Contract With HC Ron Rivera

Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, citing sources familiar with the talks, reports that the Panthers have reached out to HC Ron Rivera about a contract extension.

Person adds that a new agreement between the Panthers and Rivera will include a pay raise.

Carolina signed Rivera to a three-year extension through 2017 after they won the NFC South and Rivera was named Coach of the Year back in 2013.

Rivera, 54, was named Coach of the Year for the second time this past season and led the Panthers to their second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

Since taking the Panthers’ head-coaching job back in 2011, Rivera has led them to a record of 47-32-1 (59.4 percent) to go along with three playoff appearances and three playoff wins.

We’ll have more regarding a new contract for Rivera as the news is available.
