NFL Rumors: Draft, Janoris Jenkins, Falcons, & Ravens

Draft

  • According to Peter King of MMQB.com, Ole Miss LT Laremy Tunsil the “odds-on favorite” to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
  • King expects quarterbacks Carson Wentz, Jared Goff and possibly even Paxton Lynch to all go in the top half of the first round.
  • After speaking to quarterback-needy teams over the past week, King gets the impression that Wentz is the leader to be the first quarterback to come off of the board.
  • King writes that after seeing the results of the Combine, he wouldn’t bet the franchise on any pass-rusher in this draft, and may instead focus on second-round options like Oklahoma State’s Emmanuel Ogbah.
  • Interestingly enough, an NFL GM told King that he fully expects Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith to “play at some point, and play well.”

Janoris Jenkins

Rams free agent CB Janoris Jenkins expressed some frustration in regards to contract negotiations via his Twitter account.

  • Jordan Raanan heard at the Combine last week that Jenkins is looking for a large salary close to $12 million per year in his next contract.

Falcons

  • Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports that the Falcons’ interest level in Seahawks OLB Bruce Irvin remains unclear at this point in time.
  • While there’s an obvious connection to Atlanta for Irvin in HC Dan Quinn, McClure writes that this doesn’t necessarily mean the Falcons are all-in on Irvin.

Ravens

  • Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun writes that the writing was on the wall for OT Eugene Monroe after the Ravens afford a tepid endorsement of him a month ago.
  • While the expectation is that the Ravens will move on from Monroe, Zrebiec mentions that there’s at least a chance Baltimore holds onto him until they have an idea of if they’ll be able to re-sign OL Kelechi Osemele or who’s available to them in the draft.
  • Zrebiec anticipates John Urschel opening training camp as the Ravens’ starting left guard.
  • However, Zrebiec doesn’t rule out Ryan Jensen getting a shot.
  • Zrebiec believes Baltimore could ultimately be selecting from a group of prospects that includes Notre Dame OT Ronnie Stanley, Mississippi WR Laquon Treadwell, UCLA LB Myles Jack, Ohio State DE/OLB Joey Bosa, Eastern Kentucky DE/OLB Noah Spence and Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves at No. 6 overall.
