Chris Long Has “More Than A Little Interest”, Will Visit With Teams Later In Week

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that former Rams DE Chris Long has “more than a little interest” from NFL teams right now.

According to Thomas, Long plans to begin taking visits with prospective teams after birth of first child, who’s due date is Wednesday.

Last we heard regarding Long, he had interest from contending teams, according to Peter King of MMQB.com.

King doesn’t offer any specifics regarding which teams are interested in Long, but some speculative options — both contenders and noncontenders — could include: the Falcons, Panthers, Cowboys, Lions, Jaguars, Giants, Raiders, Seahawks, and Buccaneers.

Long, 30, was in the final year of his five-year, $60.31 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $9.75 million for the 2016 season when he was released.

In 2015, Long appeared in 12 games and recorded 19 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble for the Rams. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 edge defender out of 110 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
