Broncos Have Reportedly Made Brock Osweiler An Offer Between $12M-$16M Per Year

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Broncos continue to be focused on re-signing QB Brock Osweiler before the start of free agency.

According to Renck, Denver has made Osweiler an offer somewhere between the $12.27 million Rams QB Nick Foles is making and the $16 million salary Bengals QB Andy Dalton is making.

The two sides, obviously, do not have an agreement in place as of now, and the Broncos have until Monday to exclusively negotiate with Osweiler before the legal tampering period opens.

Jason Cole of B/R recently reported that Denver isn’t willing to pay Osweiler a salary of $16 million range, which would leave him in the same tier as Jay Cutler and Alex Smith, even in a short-term contract.

Cole added that the Broncos are prepared to allow Osweiler to test the open market, as they don’t believe he’ll be able to secure this kind of money from another team.

While the Broncos still need to figure out what’s happening with Peyton Manning, all indications are that they’re moving in a new direction, even if he wants to return for another season.

This figures to be one of the more interesting situations to watch in the coming days, as Osweiler is now the best available quarterbacks in this year’s free agent market.

Osweiler, 25, played out the final year of his four-year, $3.516 million rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next week.

In 2015, Osweiler threw for 1,967 yards while completing 61.8 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
